Downham Market Festival Week
around the end of May Bank Holiday weekend this is a week long series of events,
with the main Festival Parade and arena events on the Howdale being held on the
Bank Holiday itself.

St Winnold’s Fair is a Civic event to commemorate the first market charter
granted to the town in 1046.
The last Friday before Good Friday is marked by a procession round the town and
market of local dignitaries, some in a horse and trap, all headed by a led shire
The event was resurrected in 2004 and has quickly become established as a
popular and unique event on Downham’s calendar.

Marham IX (B) Squadron Homecoming Parade & Medal Ceremony
Thursday 28th March 2013 a special parade was held in Downham Market to
celebrate the homecoming of IX(B) Squadron from RAF Marham following their
period of service in Afghanistan. The service personnel who had been involved
in Operation Herrick 17 were presented with their medals by Air Vice-Marshall
Greg Bagwell CB CBE MSc RAF.
August the Downham Market Town Council, supported by local organisations,
organises a Water Festival on the Relief Channel alongside the Hythe Bridge to
the west of the Town. The main feature of the day are the Dragon Boat Races
where local businesses and organisations compete against each other and
provide much fun and entertainment for everyone. There are also a number of
stalls, sideshows and food outlets to attract the visitors.
Town Square Events
celebration of the Chinese New Year takes place on the Town Square with a
special performance of the Chinese Lion Dance. Children from local schools enjoy
